The Freshman Engineering Program organizes advising for all freshman engineering students. The 40 engineering faculty members who serve as freshman advisors are experienced classroom professors, knowledgeable about engineering, and trained to work with freshmen. You will meet with your advisor several times each semester. Your freshman advisor can help you to:

• Select courses to take next semester
• Select Humanities & Social Science courses to satisfy university requirements
• Discuss the pros & cons of academic decisions (such as dropping a course, taking a heavy course load, participating in Co-op, etc.)
• Direct you to academic resources (professors, learning centers, help sessions)
• Work with you when academic problems arise
• Discuss different engineering majors and direct you to resources for more information
• Direct you to non-academic resources on campus and in the community
