completing the common freshman year, your freshman advisor will ask you to fill out an application to transfer to your chosen undergraduate engineering degree program. The requirements for acceptance to degree programs differ depending on the department. Many departments have a minimum GPA requirement. Keep in mind that you can start taking courses in your major prior to officially being accepted to the department, provided you have successfully completed the prerequisites for any course you take. After you are accepted to a degree program, you will have a new advisor from your major department.
